The new approach?

How did we get here? In this new world of social distancing, hand sanitizers, staying at home at the slightest symptom of a cold and restricted from traveling where and when you want to.

When I wrote about being a Trailblazer in the new world, I wanted to emphasize how fast the world around us are changing and the importance of embracing that change and go with the flow, wherever it might take you. And all of a sudden, the world comes to a halt. Realizing that when we have to, we do have what it takes to shift focus and change accordingly.

During September I have talked about Degrowth, Reuse and Rethink. Concepts that this pandemic has forced us to take into greater consideration. I believe that we do not always know how to act or how to actually contribute to the possibilities that the concept of Rethink has to offer.

Therefore, global cooperation grows more important for us to elaborate and be inspired on how to do things in a different way. In my earlier articles I have shared some carefully selected Rethink projects to inspire change. Because there are a lot of interesting projects that deserves to be in the spotlight!

For the past two years I have worked dedicatedly on my own business identity. And finally, the Story about me and what I consider important is live on my new website susannekikki.se. You will find that I talk about business in a slightly different way, that is why I decided to give myself two new titles, Value Creator and Purpose Director.

The Value Creator

Talking about business development, is actually talking about value creation. The value I am talking about goes far beyond profit, instead I mean that what you give to your customers – that is true value. And that those who excel in such value creation will be successful.

IKEA, a company where I worked for over two decades, is an organization with a clear value with their slogan “A better everyday life for the many people”. From the beginning this was in regard to offering furniture and design at a price that everyone could afford. Today, this is rather about the transition towards a more sustainable life. Where the possibility to make better choices affordable is at center. That is why I believe that business development is actual value creation.

The Purpose Director

Later on, when you have decided on the kind of service or products your business want to offer, it is time to analyze the true purpose behind it. What customer needs are being solved? How do you solve it? And how can you create a purpose which also considers the better for the environment and Mother Earth? That is why I created a role that concentrates on the true purpose of your business. Developing products can take you anywhere, in any direction. Emanating from a clear purpose will keep your business on track, now as well as in the future.

So, what do I want to convey? I believe that we have to tackle the new world in a new way to be able to move in a better direction. We have to create from a place of value and purpose and start considering what is best for future generations.

“Sustainability is the ability to exist constantly”

If we combine the process of development with the ability to exist constantly, I think we will discover new opportunities that will work in favor for yourself, as well as the world. That is how I want to define business.

Reflections from,

Susanne-Kikki
